When to plant seeds

Arlington, TX

I am here in TX where the temps will be warm for many more months. I just realized I had ordered a few seeds with my last plants but never started them. Is it too late to start them now and if I do what happens to the little things over the winter.
It is in the 100's here so I am also wondering if I can start them outside now.

Start them anytime you feel like it.
Just find the right place where they wont cook.

I threw a pan of unsprouted seeds into my compost heap after giving up on them.
2 weeks later I had 26 new adeniums in my compost heap LOL!!

After germination could they survive in this sun? I have never tried them outside before. Also, it will be cooling down and how do the small seedlings get treated in the winter? I could put them under grow lights in my classroom but it might get too cold for them at school in winter. Can they be allowed to go dormant?

Quoting:
For the winter, you will need to exercise some add'l care as they may need some additional heat, depending on where you are going to keep them.. they won't be as sturdy as larger plants.

I also recently planted some seeds and was wondering how to maintain them during the colder months. With my mature ones, when they go dormant, I just put them in a closet & give a little water once a month. The seedlings will require some heat. Will they need supplemental light also?

Brian, but do they have to be under lights? My bigger ones go into the dark until spring.

I am wondering how small they can be and still survive winter dormancy.

Just rub it in, why don't you. Not everyone has full time nice weather.

Why are Brians post being removed?
I noticed this on other threads too.
The quotes from him on others posts seemed helpful. ??

I think he took himself off the site but have no idea why its the way you described. I appreciated his advice.
