Hello. I'm a newbie gardner (or trying to be). I am almost empty-nested, and am now turning my nurturing toward my long-neglected yard. I have spent many, many hours trying to cut back the oh-so-overgrown forsythia & lilac shrubs in my back yard. I have planted some of the babies to have a forsythia hedge on one side of the house and to line the back fence with lilac. (I may regret this later, as both grow so quickly). I planted the front flower bed with deer-resistant salvia, barberry & coreopsis last year. I replaced some of the coreopsis this year (moon beam), but it is dying. My neighbor's looks great. Perhaps it's because I purchased from Lowes - the other stuff I got from there did not fare so well either. I realize I need to learn a lot, so...I joined up. Looking forward to learning lots from the folks here!
