Sweet Sultan (centaurea moschata)

Selinsgrove, PA(Zone 5b)

I winter sowed the seeds three years ago. I only raised one plant. It didn't grow much the first year. Last year it grew to three feet. This year it is at least six feet. I started two more plants from winter sowing this year. The six footer has to go. The bees love it. The older flower has a light chocolate scent.

The photo is sweet sultan behind Indian Summer rudbeckia. Several plants planted close together would give it a fuller look.
