I am using my old Singer Fashion Mate to sew replacement seat/back for our outdoor directors chairs. The fabric is Sunbrella and I started out using upholstery thread but after 3 fifteen in. seams the tension went wacky and the bobbin started popping out. I switched to some xtra heavy thread but same thing. I then switched to all purpose thread to finish the project and double stitched everywhere they would be stress. I think heavy thread is needed, tho. Do I need a special machine or needle or ? to sew w/ heavy threads?
