Anyone know this convolvulus(?)

Townsville, Australia(Zone 10a)

Thinking this is in the family because of the star in the flower.
i posted it in the plant id forum first.

It is a pretty cool plant and is growing in the wild.

TIA

Have you seen all the ones native to Australia????

Well I dont think it is borage, borage doesnt have the star in the middle of the flower...

Foliage is all wrong, and borage doesnt grow here in the tropics especially naturally on a hillside.

Have y'all taken a close look at the flowers on your tomatoes lately? They are in the same family as eggplant (Solanum sp.) - Solanaceae. I have always admired Solanum jasminoides, and its flower did seem similar to the flower of Annette's mystery plant.

So, I checked out some of the oodles of entries for Solanum in PlantFiles. The following ain't it, but it's so close that further perusal of Solanum for Australia might be useful -

wacha think?

Here's all of the PlantFiles entries in alphabet order for the genus Solanum -

http://davesgarden.com/guides/pf/adv_search.php?searcher[common]=&searcher[family]=&searcher[genus]=Solanum&searcher[species]=&searcher[cultivar]=&searcher[hybridizer]=&searcher[grex]=&search_prefs[blank_cultivar]=&search_prefs[sort_by]=genus&images_prefs=both&Search=Search

I don't know if I'm on the right trail, or not - but Annette, this is a gorgeous flower and plant - I love blue flowers with silver leaves :)

hmm

Leaves are alternate in Convolvulaceae and the plant in the photo appears to have opposite leaves.

It's certainly pretty enough to be a morning glory - Why don't we grant it honorary membership in Convolvulaceae?

lol

Yeah, a VIP pass. Vine for a Day. LOL
