Has anyone tried Batik?

I've just bought all the stuff it takes for Batik dying. Has anyone tried that? What kind of melting pot do you have, that's my big question. I just bought an electric skillet from Walmart that will come in soon. It has all the temp settings. I hope that works, although I'm a little concerned about the non-stick coating flaking off.
