ID of this white clematis?

Lakewood, OH

It had been cut to the ground and I thought it was dead in the spring, but it came back, is 6 feet high and put out about 15 blooms.

If it has a lavendar-blue Cast when first opening then my guess is Clematis "Candida"...Jeanne

I planted 2 Candidas last year and one of them had 1 blossom this year. It was just beautiful. I planted both in the shade (because that's about all I have) so wasn't too surprised that they didn't bloom more. Your's is really nice.

dathen - mine is in the shade and I get many blooms. Not a ton of blooms but they're all so beautiful and last so long in the shade as compared to sun.

pirl - those are lovely. I'm hoping that mine will do more next year. It did get quite tall, so I think it will be ok there. Not too sure about the other one. It didn't come up for about one month later than the other one and only got about 4 foot tall.....but I was really pleased that it finally made an appearance.
