Went to a lecture this past Saturday given by Judith Jones, probably the foremost fern expert in the US. Part of the day we got to visit Whitehall Mansion's woodland garden that is also a HFF display garden. VERY beautiful.

Is Whitehall near Bardstown? We went to some of the Lincoln sites in that area but missed the ferns! Is there a link?
We are not really too far away (Middle Tennessee) and I've been surprised and encouraged at how well many kinds of ferns do here.
It's in Louisville, about a 40 minute drive for me. Well worth the visit. Also just down the road from me is Bernheim Forest, a huge park and arboretum with a wonderful variety of plant and animal life with plenty of trails to walk. They have a website but Whitehall does not. Come on up anytime for a visit!
