Disc door won't open

Now this isn't on my computer, but on our DVR/DVD player. It is not a satellite receiver, but a purchased entertainment unit.

I'm hoping that some of you folks can help. The Eject command has apparently quit working and it won't open the tray for us to remove the disc. We've powered down and back up, but to no avail. Any assistance will be wonderful. (hubby loves his electronics and this is quite distressing to him)
