Help identify what's wrong...

Ada, OK(Zone 7a)

...with my new clematis. I just got this free from the nursery. Pretty much every leaf is affected. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

I'd bring it back pronto!

I'm assuming this was a clearance buy.
Probably ate up w bugs? or maybe some over spray of round up or such?
I don't know, I'd spray it for bugs. shake off all the soil it came in and plant it.
Prune it off.
Maybe someone else will know more.

Why keep a recently purchased plant that starts off with problems? I'd still bring it back and talk with the manager. He/she can return it for credit. Such plants should not be sold even at bargain prices.

well I agree if they are that bad off, they should dump them or compost them.
On the other hand, most folks get what they see, it's not like you walk off with a half dead plant and don't know it. I have lots of pretty things in my yard that came off the 'dead' shelves LOL
If it is anything I paid much for, I would return it... Be careful buying bargain plants as they are sometimes not refundable.
