Anyone interested in urban wildlife might enjoy reading about the Urban Coyote Study being done on Chicago coyotes. It is fascinating to m how well these animals do living next to people.

It's amazing how close they can live to humans. I saw one run across the road in suburban nj when visiting my hometown. Only 5 miles from NYC. Interestingly it crossed right in front of the town middle school.

It seems many local sightings in NJ are of the larger Coy wolves. We had one in our suburban neighborhood walking the streets but most are in the local mountain preserve and can be dangerous if you are walking a dog who they can consider a threat. You have to be very careful if they have pups.
