Issue with Flash Drive, I/O Error, and chkdsk

Leesburg, FL(Zone 9b)

I have been using a TitaniumCruiser flash drive for some yrs now. I have many files on there i need for work and home.
I've never had troubles with it.... I just got a laptop with Win7, and have been able to open it and work on files.
I also use it on a WinXP system.... but lately, i have not been able to access it on the Win7 system.

I get a J:// is not accessible.
The request could not be performed because of an I/O device error.

so i googled it and found a forum that said it could be corrupt... googled a bit more and found where it said to use cmd and run the chkdsk [using administrative] -- i was able to get in there ... and now i get Cannot open volume for direct access

any ideas??

thanks -- Terese
