Thanks for the new thread was really getting hard to load.

LOL.. I wouldn't be surprised if they do floss at all. They need to keep them choppers nice and sharp and clean. They want to be able to say Look Mom no cavities. : )

Seem to be down to just a couple of chipmunks now....

Went to visit my mom for a few days, and her yard is ruled by chippies! I enjoyed following these guys around and watching their antics!

Nice shots nanny and VA_Wild_Rose!

A new squirrel is running the yard right now...female Fox/Gray mix? She's a little smaller than the Fox squirrel's but will scrap in a minute.

Here's a Fox Squirrel...its ears are slightly shorter and more rounded than the mixed one.

Nice shots Burd! Love the hybrid one!

Nanny... squirrels are certainly tenacious when it comes to getting in feeders!

Fredericksburg, VA(Zone 7a)

"Whew! Sure is hot, ain't it???"

102 degrees when I saw her hangin' out!

I even feel sorry for them when it is that hot!! Good shot!

Sandusky, OH

Nice shot VA Rose! Mine have been doing the same thing..trying to find a shaded branch to keep cool.

Putnam County, IN(Zone 5b)

This is the happiest squirrel ever. Just look at the joy on its face over the grape it just found laying on the ground! Pure pleasure at its best.

This Chippy, love hanging around the pond, I think it's the cover of the hostas that he likes.

Anyone here familiar with the holes that chipmunks make? Are they really this small and neat?
http://www.hiltonpond.org/ThisWeek051115.html

I have some much larger holes and I can't figure out who made them. Have the above holes also, but they look too tiny for a chipmunk (esp if they're carrying something in their mouth - hee hee).

Putnam County, IN(Zone 5b)

Yes they really are that neat.....they can pop in and out of those little holes quite quickly & easliy!

Maybe you can take some photos of your holes and post them on the the Garden Pest Forum for an ID.

Essex Junction, VT(Zone 4a)

ooh, good idea. I'm ok with these small holes, but the huge ones are now a mystery if those neat little ones are chipmunks. time to go take some pictures :)

Putnam County, IN(Zone 5b)

My first guess would be that it is probably moles...but not sure what all you have up that way as far as critters go!

Essex Junction, VT(Zone 4a)

I do have moles, but they are on the other side of the yard and don't cause much trouble. It seems too small to be for a groundhog or skunk, but too large for a chipmunk or snake. Voles also I think make smaller tunnels. So what's left?? :)

If anyone is curious:

It's been too hot to be outside watching squirrels, but the other day I did notice this in my East Palatka Holly in the front yard. It's got to be a squirrel nest. Located very close to two feeders (smart squirrel).

What a great location!

Sandusky, OH

Nice shots all! Haven't been keeping tabs on my squirrel's lately...the giant Chinese Elm in my neighbors yard...decided to crack open and had to be taken down...but I counted 7 nests in the tree. They have been cutting on the tree for over a week now and there is still more to go. The squirrel's have been around but more or less hiding because of the activity.

Putnam County, IN(Zone 5b)

Been a little quiet here too...way to hot!

getting a drink...then Burd gets off work to find the birdbath knocked over for the umpteenth time...caught the squirrel's running and jumping on it to tip it...I had put a rock in it but the bird's can't bathe if I do so I just keep filling it up..lol
