Overwintering Lantana :)

Anderson, IN(Zone 6a)

I really wanna try to overwinter Lantana in the ground this winter, have any of you been successful in doing so? I know I'm in total zone denial, but I'm zone 6 and the variety I have is hardy to zone 7! I think it's such a beautiful plant!

I'm Zone 5b, and I just have to bring it in.

I know it breaks my heart to abandon my Lantanas to old man winter right when they get really pretty in the late summer.

I imagine if you have yours located where it will get excellent drainage, perhaps out of the wind and on the sunny side of the house, and then cover it with a bag of leaves or some other insulation you would have a pretty good chance of getting it thru the winter.

They say more tender plants succumb to wet feet and root rot than to cold.

I have overwintered homestead verbena out in the garden with no extra special care, but although a cousin of lantana it is a little bit more hardy.

We overwinter zone 7/8 EE's and bananas in exactly the conditions Tabasco mentions.
Try leaves, then some plastic to keep the water out, then more leaves.
