Can anyone verify that this is a bromeliad?
Maybe an Orthophytum. Need to see the inflorescence.
Certainly we have a lot of bromeliads here in the Yucatan. That one looks familiar but I'd have to go through a lot of pictures and then I'd only be verifying what you have, a picture from the Yucatan. Where did you take the picture? The Yucatan includes a very severe wet/dry season here in the north and a more tropical area to the south.
I think it a pinguin bromeliad, but cant tell till if flowers.

Bromelia pinguin. W. Indies-Central America-Venezuela. Beautiful spreading bromeliad.
