New Food Labels in the US...Non-GMO Project

A new voluntary labeling project will effectively by-pass the failure of a legislative mandate to label for GMO content in US food.

The Non-GMO Project label will identify products that have been tested and processed using equipment that is either dedicated or well cleaned. The resulting products must have GMO content of less than 1%.

The article says that US companies that market in Europe have to label their products if they contain GMOs. That has continually been blocked in the US so producers will take the opposite approach to achieve the same thing...informed consumers. HeeHeee!
