It's time to switch to a new thread. Lovely pictures on ours last one, if you would like to return to it to look at them, follow this link, http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/t/1085594/
I will start, with a bug that walks on water.
Critters Big and Small Volume #4
Neat looking one Nanny. Don't know what it is either.
Thanks for the new thread Burn and nice shots! I like this thread you never know what your going to see next.
Nanny you and Burn have come up with some neat looking moths or butterfly's lol . Its even more interesting hearing the strange names they have.
Nanny, nice capture's of the deer family.
From the last thread...Elphaba the gator shot is very nice...you have captured it perfectly.
Well I have a few critter's to add...start off with some Dragonfly's
Burd, your first butterfly is a Mourning Cloak great shot of it too! I believe the little blue one is an Azure.
I love dragonflies but not good at getting phics of them!
Good grief Burd...raccoon AND a groundhog at the same time!!
Cute frog burn!
hmm, My post got lost. Burd your Raccoon looks like a juvie. The tail is still short and tin. Great job on getting the groundhog and raccoon together and a robin as well.
Thanks Nanny.
Thx Nanny and Burn! The young Raccoon was favoring his left foot...must have cut it or something but otherwise seemed fine. I seen the ground hog first but as I was taking the picture...hey a Raccoon!
That poor buck went through a hard time. He must of came close to being a prey. Good shot Nanny.
Nice shots Nanny! Most likely those (scratches) are from fighting with other bucks during the rut.
I was just glad he ended up over there! At first he came heading across into our backyard. We have half of it fenced for our dog and I really thought he was going to jump it and be right outside the door! I froze instead of grabbing the camera until he crossed the road.
Not a great one...the lens fogged up with the high humidity.
Great Macro shots Hack!
I agree those are very nice macro shots Hack!
Nanny, your buck looks ready for a caption, nice shot!
nanny_56 - I think the buck also knows you froze instead of grabbing your camera - see, he's laughing at you.

LOL!!!
And this one is a Common Eastern Sweat Bee - it is fond of the salt in human sweat.
Sweat bees belong to the family Halictidae, order Hymenoptera. The common eastern sweat bee is Dialictus zephrum, that's mine.
The insert shows how small it was. The flower is a Shasta Daisy.

This is a Bee Fly.
They are small- to medium-sized flies of the family Bombyliidae, order Diptera. Many resemble bees in appearance and behavior. This mimicry provides bee flies with some measure of protection against predators that have learned to avoid the sting of true bees.
