Are JM's water seekers.

Temperanceville, VA(Zone 7a)

Hi all, Just bought a Bloodgood JM for Father's Day for my DH. I have NO experience with this type of tree. Do they tend to get in drain lines, etc like their cousins the silver, sugar, red maples?

Springfield, IL(Zone 6a)

Although there is little research Jms are known to not known hurt foundations or waterlines or underground appurtenances .That being said it is never to bright to plant directly over anything that might have to be repaired or replaced since it could mean both a bigger job and the injury or demise of your tree.. You can always pay to have a new line directionally drilled and save your tree... that is REALLY super cool to watch but you will pay for the privilege ..Davidsan
