pine tree question/problem

Alba, TX(Zone 8a)

I'm not new to Dave's but have not posted on this forum. But I'm having a possible problem with one of our three year old pine trees. We've noticed sap poring out of a couple spots on the trunk or one of our trees. All others appear fine. What are your thoughts?

And most of the tree. We can't see any insects, but they could be there. Should we try and dig something out?

Looks like mechanical damage to me. Could anything have knocked into the tree at any time? Perhaps when it was planted?

I'd think the tree should be OK.

Thank you very much for your reply.

It was planted three years ago, but we have had a lot of wind in the past couple of months. There could be a possibility that something blew into the trunk. The winds were so bad that two of my roses got ripped out of the ground, roots and all, and then plopped back down next to the bed of origin. So your suggestion is a good possibility! That never even occured to me. =)
