Starting cuttings in water

Bolivar, OH

A friend of mine was telling me today that another gardening friend told her to wait about two hours after taking coleus cuttings before putting them in water to try to root them. I have never heard of this with coleus. What do you guys think?

i don't know about this specifically. i brought a new coleus and a stem was broken so i put it water and it have cut a long time. the next day it wilted and stayed that way for a few days then it perked up as roots emerged.

i don't think it's necessary just nice to know that you can wait a bit before getting it in water. none of my books that cover propagation of coleus mention it.
