My gardener planted American lemons /lime which yielded huge fruits, as shown in the picture.
The rind/outer pulp is thick and the core juicy part is just small. What went wrong? Is it the soil? Weather? I just want the ordinary yellow lemons I see at the supermarket.
Would appreciate any diagnosis and recommended cure.
Thanks
Odette
HUGE American Lemons
Hi Odette!
It may be a lack of potassium & magnesium. Citrus are heavy feeders.
Can you show close-ups of the leaves?
K-mag is a common fertilizer supplement which may help.
If you wish to grow the lemons found at the market (which are often Eureka Lemon) simply get one of those lemons, remove the seeds and grow them.
Most lemons grow from seed and are not plagued with the diseases that sweet citrus are.
