what is eating datura seedlings?

Damascus, MD(Zone 7a)

I have a few datura seedlings, but every one of them has got holes in the leaves. I checked the back of the leaves, but didn't see any bugs. Any advice? Thanks.

I would not know. Maybe some sort of caterpiller? There is a tiny one eating a ton of hollyhocks, only about a 1/8 long.
If something ate a Datura, wouldn't the pest die? Daturas are incredibly poisonous, right?

Not sure if pests will die of eating poisonous plants... This is the first time I have ever tried this plant. Maybe I will have to spray it :-( Thanks for commenting. Good luck with your hollyhocks. Their flowers are beautiful.

Wait...
I found lots of tatula dats with their leaves identical to yours, and the number of plants affected is growing. Fortunately the tatulas are VERY weedy, so no problems concern plant mortality;)
