Could it be Red Zinger or Candy Apple? It is fragrant and medium short.

my red zinger doesn't seem quite as purple as that, more of a rust reddish.

Could it be Ruby Slippers? I love your Red Zinger! How tall does yours grow?

need more info than a photo, dear. where'd you get it from?

Your photo is very lovely; however, it would help if we could see a closeup. There are many subtle characteristics that help to differentiate between similar iris: things like the beard color(s), color of the hafts, whether there are ruffles or frills, etc.

A good closeup would help a lot.

I agree a closeup would help too, sometimes the sun or time of day or the age of the blooms can really change the color in the photos.
My red zinger is an early bloomer, and it doesn't get really tall for me, maybe 12-15 inches? I am just guessing. It is done blooming before many of my others even start.

Can't remember where I got it. I had quite a few new irises from several sources a few years ago and lost most of them to iris borers. This is one of the few that survived. Thanks anyways...

This photo has exactly the same coloring that mine does.
I found this photo of red zinger from laurief, which is one of the plants I ordered from her.

Raleigh, NC

and you're not sure if it is, in fact, red zinger? have you tried emailing your photo to laurie?
