The cannas have arrived, the neighbors will be puzzled!

Just got my canna shipment from Horn.
3- Robert Kemp
3- Burning Ember
6- Pretoria
3- President
3- Rosemond Cole
3- Richard Wallace
3- Yellow King Humbert

I have five wine barrels filled with 50% bagged top soil, 30% acidified cotton bole compost & 20% peat moss. A couple of the President & Burning Ember are going on each side of the entry walk in the three foot high planter.

I was thinking about watering them with a 10% solution of miracle grow and applying corn glutten, (9% nitrogen slow release) to the soil surface to feed these cannas and help thwart the weeds.

Any thoughts or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

All sounds beautiful. Good selection, and Horn is quality.

I pick up coffee grounds from Starbucks every so often and spread around the my Cannas....they like it.
And my DH makes a compost/peat moss combo for them as well.

Morganc,

I have seen the gorgeous plants that surround your stuning pool area. It looks like something out of Sunset Magazine! I am hoping to create a similar effect in my front yard.

Unfortunately I will have to dig my cannas in October. Wish I had some Tropicanas like yours, but Horn doesn't sell them.

What a lovely compliment......my Cannas thank you.

If you D-mail me your info I'm sure we could spare a baby Tropicanna.
