The man at the Farmer's Market recommended calcium nitrate to give veggies a nice "shine". I use eggshells and bones in my compost - but I don't have very much by volume. What can I safely add to my veggie plots?
Organic Calcium for my Garden
I use crab shell, but it's expensive. A bucket lasts me a season.

Some people recommend dolomite lime, and although I have used it, I am cautious because it will also change the pH of the soil.
Bone meal will also add calcium but it breaks-down slowly.

Thank you.
