newbie needs bird-safe product suggestion to mosaic birdbath

Gettysburg, PA(Zone 6b)

I am making a new bird bath "top" using a 14" diameter terra cotta pot saucer. I have the glass "pebbles" you buy in craft stores to make a design in the bird bath. I read in another post that liquid nails is a good clear adhesive to use, but is it okay for a bird bath?
And secondly, what grout should I use that's bird-safe?
Am I missing any thing? Pebbles, adhesive, grout... is that all I'll need? (I live a half hour from supplies so I want to make sure I have everything needed before i start!)
This is my first crafty endevour and i want to get it right. thanks for your help!

edited: just read a post about bowling ball mosaics and realize I need to seal the grout. So I need to add that to my list of things I need.
