question on harvesting bluebonnet seeds

Lake Charles, LA

My bluebonnets have formed pods. The pods are still green, can I harvest them now or do they need to turn brown?

I read recently that once the lower pods have started to turn brown, you can harvest all of the pods and let them completely turn brown in a paper bag. So that is what I have tried this year. I am interested to hear what others have to say about this also.

Angela & Tonya -

by now your bluebonnets are probably passing away . . . as did mine about a week ago.

I collected all the pods, many of which are still green - - put them all in a very wide saucer and I am letting them dry in the sun. I've done this for several years now.
