Here Comes The Summer Sun

Ft Lauderdale, FL(Zone 10a)

Took a few photos outside this morning of some things old and some things new. This is the first bloom opening on Echinacea "Summer Sun".

And nothing to do with Echies. It's Calla Lily blooming season in South Florida, so here's a couple starting with Calla Lily "Picasso"

And lastly is Calla Lily "Red Alert"

Oh wow Jon. You have some beauties there. I hope my 'Summer Sun' looks as nice as yours when it blooms. Looks like a healthy plant so far. Does it change color over time? Love those calla lilies too.

Ft Lauderdale, FL(Zone 10a)

It's supposed to change color. Only time will tell. It just opened yesterday/today. I'm waiting for the red and black Calla Lilies to open. Those ones are interesting.

Oh, everything looks great! I have sworn off calla lilies. All they want to do is collapse for me. They are so upright and beautiful at the garden center and then plunk! they just lay on the ground for me and my gardening friend as well. Good to see you have better luck!

Love the tiger's eye, too. I thought that is what I had from last year, but I found a tag in my tag folder that said Indian Summer, so I am assuming that I was just remembering wrong. Either way, gotta love those ruds!

Thanks. The biggest difference between "Tiger Eye" and "Indian Summer" is the plant height. "Indian Summer" is typically 3-4 feet and "Tiger Eye Gold" is half of that.

(Carisa) Raleigh, NC(Zone 7b)

Oh, yeah. I definately have Indian Summer, then. It's already up to the top of my leg in height. I think I was just coveting your tiger's eye last year, then and that's why the name stuck in my mind so much!

A couple photos, from today, of others Echies coming along in our summer heat. This is "Hot Papaya".
