And, here is the second image, after flipping the original.
Birds of Patuxent Research Refuge
Lovely photos Linth!
What Pelle said.
Beautiful, colorful, crystal clear and such a great variety. Nice job flipping the pictures, I wouldn't have noticed. That flicker is gorgeous!! I have yet to get one even half as good, but I'm continuing to practice.
What fabulous collection of various birds, Linth! Most of the birds I see (and took pics. of) are in the "fields". While yours are in the studio-type quality! How awesome!
Great stuff Linth!! The Northern Flicker shots are very nice as are all the others.
Just beautiful linth! I love the flicker of course, but that first shot with the pair of Goldfinch is really neat!
Nice. Great variety there Linthicum. I have not been there in awhile...seems I'm missing out. These shots are from your normally patrolled area?
Thank you all for your comments .....
Met, I'm a little late in responding back but, Yes, they were taken along my favorite patrolled area. However, the last two times I was there I haven't been too successful photographing birds. I hear a lot but they didn't come my way. I've heard a Yellow-billed Cuckoo and Scarlet Tanager. I saw the Tanager for a split second on the way back to the Visitor Center.
I stopped the car, got out, set up my tripod and waited for about 45 minutes. He kept singing away in the treetops right above me for the entire time but wouldn't show himself. So, I left .....
The last time I was there, I did get some decent photos of an American Redstart. I was back at the end of the wildlife drive, standing on Bailey Bridge.
Here are a few photos of the Redstart ......
Wow he is very pretty!
Beautiful work, Linth.
That Redstart is beautiful.
I really enjoy this thread Linth.
Beautiful photos Linth. I love the Redstart!!
Hey Linthicum that's where I normally see them just past the bridge where they closed the road. Last year I found them nesting around this time.
Those are great! I have just had fleeting glimpse of them and bad photos just good enough to ID them.
Nice shots of the American Redstart Linth!
Fabulous photos, and I love the details about the personalities and habits of some of the birds you're stalking on camera!
Thank you for sharing!
Thanks, all ......
Met, I used to go 200-300 yards behind the bridge but because the road is washed out they don't allow entry into the area. It's rather swampy back there and is a haven for all sorts of wildlife.
I was back patrolling my favorite area last weekend. Not too much activity but I did get a rare photo (at Patuxent) of a Pileated Woodpecker. I constantly hear and see them flying back and forth across the road but never caught them sitting in the wooded area. Even then, it is a good distance from the road.
