I have some similar flowers that come up every spring...think they were called windflowers, but mine are purple.
Anemones are commonly called windflowers. :) I've never grown them so totally missed with my poppy guess!
I have had windflowers also. They are smaller I think. These Anemones get larger...with larger flowers. They come in different colors too. I have/had dark blue, dark pink, and white. Not long lived...at least here.
The photo here makes me laugh. It looks like eyeballs. :)
