Suggestions for low growing compact plant

Summerville, SC(Zone 8a)

I finally finished getting rid of everything growing next to the house behind the drip line in the back yard. I'm looking for a perennial I can plant against my house in the back yard. I want something that's low growing, compact and containable with flowers in the warm colors since the house is dark brown brick.

This area only gets direct sun for about an hour in the early morning and then bright shade .. by afternoon its darker shade. There is about a foot between the house and the drip line from the roof.

I'd love to do portulaca but I doubt it would get enough sun. Any suggestions?

How about hardy begonia? Mine have pink flowers and are thriving in lots of shade. Max. height is about 12 inches, spreading, and many flowers in summer and fall. There are lots of photos here on Dave's.
Mine have many children, and I can send you some if you'd like.

That's an excellent idea! How many can you send? And what would you like in trade?

I can probably send you 15 or 20 easily. Is that enough? They would be small.
Well I wasn't thinking about trading...just gifting, but I'm always open to something easy care, since I'm gone a lot.
