Red Iris

Gainesville, TX

Please share your pictures and knowledge of red bearded iris. I'd also like to see them in combination with other colors. The most creative I have got is pairing them with the golds, like their beard colors.

Believe it or not, this isn't staged. This is an accidental grouping gone well. I call it:

Here's a one new this year for me, NEBRASKA BIG RED. It's very, very dark blood burgundy (so dark it's almost black, really) with very nice form. One of my new favorites! It's from Blue J Iris.

And this is my favorite red to date, DYNAMITE.

that nebraska big red looks to be almost the color of wearing rubies. It really does have beautiful form, another to have on my list.

Hear's a good red that's a rebloomer. It just won't quit. "Les We Forget", Sutton, 2006.

billyporter, love that grouping.

Betja, NEBRASKA BIG RED is a stunner.

I really love NEBRASKA BIG RED, and it's from the Jedlickas at Blue J Iris, although I think Rockytop also carries it. Blue J's introductions are very reasonably priced compared to other nurseries. I think the parentage is Dynamite X Red Rider (Ryder?) or vice-versa, or maybe some other red parent other than Red Rider, but I believe it definitely has Dynamite in it. It's deeper colored and just a little more cranberry burgundy than Dynamite. And most important -- every flower looked just like that!
