suffering dogwood

Princeton, NJ

We have two dogwoods side by side at the woodland edge of our property off our patio garden...they long pre-date the house..and our large and beautiful with white flowers .we had a brutal winter in New Jersey and while one is looking robust though with fewer blooms than usual the other is clearly suffering...much smaller leaves...some bare lower smaller branches..few blooms...can I get some advice on fertilizing or otherwise rejuvenating the dogwood? thanks

Dogwoods like soil with a lot of sand in it.

If there are none naturally in your immediate area then it's probably not suitable ground for them.

Here's a step by step care guide to dogwoods.

With the one right next to it doing better sounds more like a disease or insect issue.

What part of Princeton do you live? I used to go to a church in Princeton. We're about 20mins from there.
