How can I keep mockingbirds away? It's the babies that are annoying. They give off this loud, shrill, penetrating, almost ultrasonic screech every second or two from dawn to dusk. (It is not nice like an adult mockingbird song.) It's loud enough that I can hear it with the house fan and the t.v. on, even when the bird is across the street. Each brood lasts for three weeks and it's not just one brood a year. Last year they had at least four. Spraying them with water doesn't work. They just go into the neighbor's yard or across the street. I don't think they nested in our yard this year but they like to come here.
