Computer Freezing

My computer has 'frozen' 2 or 3 times in the past couple of weeks. I have to turn the tower off and start over. Last evening I did the ctrl alt del and got that my programs were still running yet the cursor would not move. Don't know if I did that the other times or not. Could it be my mouse? Help will be appreciated.
