My neighbor divided her iris bed last year and gave me the ones she didn't want
This beauty greeted me when I came home today
First irises I've grown
That appears to be one of the old historics. Try another pic in different lighting. Those are all keepers even though they do not have the fancy ruffles and lace of the newer ones. I have committed to keep and grow only the older irises of about 1940 and before. Some go back as far as the 1500's.
I guess now you are hooked like the rest of us
Whew that one is beautiful! What a kind neighbor you have too!
I wonder what it is, does anyone have a guess? It's a beauty.
Thanks for the input. My neighbor also gave me some yellow irises. I'll have to ask her if she knows how old they are. I have a large vegetable garden, so am able to repay her kindness with produce :)
Will share more photos soon.
