I saved the seeds from my sisters MG in WV...started them inside...put them in the ground yesterday and was rewarded with a bloom this morning...OK so it did have a bud already!!

Does anyone know the name of this MG? Thanks...Jo

So many purpurea's that it's very difficult to say. Jo, maybe someone will come
along and try to id it for you.

Hi Jo! Welcome the MG Forum! :-)

Hard to say with I. purpureas because many MGs do cross-pollinate, but here is one possibility:

Looks like it might be a diluted form of Star of Yelta: http://davesgarden.com/guides/pf/showimage/239184/

Thanks, Becky...I think you're right...I had some seeds of the Star of Yelta when I first got on DG...actually they were sent to me in a Friendship box sent to my by folks here when my DH died...My DD grew them for a while...but this is my first time growing MG...I also have Rose Silk sent to me by my good friend,Gourd....I can't wait for them to bloom. Hi Jo - Nice to see you here and thank you for trying to help me with that fund drive. May your summer flowers be easier to find than our beneficiaryNOT.
