I think I have the type of ferns that are edible "fiddle heads" does anyone know the cultivar
here are the pictures I took today of the plants in question . I got these years ago from my friends grandmother theygrow wild up at her property in NH . mine have formed a nice patch and they keep multiplying
I have often wondered if I could eat them , they look just like the ones available at the grocery store this time of year

fiddle heads anyone?
A lot of ferns are poisonous. They are also very difficult to identify in the 'fiddlehead' stage.
Conclusion: unless you know exactly what species you have, don't eat them.

These were always hugely popular when I lived in Maine and no spring was complete without a visit to a local roadside vendor to get new fiddleheads!
