Can someone tell me what they think this is? The purply little buds near my finger. I am fairly certain it is mint sprouting, but, even with my careful labeling of everything, I have a slight idea it might be ranunculus... anyone have any ideas?

I figured it out, it is a very rabid kind of mint we have in the yard... I pulled it out as best I could...

ElizainHamtown, will ranunculus over winter in your zone 6 garden? They sure won't at my house (zone 5). I thought maybe with some extra protection and planting them on the south side of the house next to the building maybe I can get them to winter over, too.
Well - to be honest I planted them and they didn't do anything last year, which is why I thought maybe they were coming up this year. But, they weren't ranunc. They are mint. So - as an answer, I don't know. I just planted more, so lets see what happens and I'll get back to you!
