Anyone interested in measuring rain?

Dacula, GA(Zone 7b)

I participate in a citizen science project called CoCoRaHs (Community Collaborative Rain, Hail and Snow Network.) Quote from their page: CoCoRaHS is a unique, non-profit, community-based network of volunteers of all ages and backgrounds working together to measure and map precipitation (rain, hail and snow). By using low-cost measurement tools, stressing training and education, and utilizing an interactive Web-site, our aim is to provide the highest quality data for natural resource, education and research applications. We are now in all fifty states.

CoCoRaHS is having their version of March Madness. There's a contest to see which state adds the most volunteers. Its free to join, but the rain gauge costs about $25. If you are interested, please go to http://www.cocorahs.org/ to read more and join.

Thanks,
Becky

That's like weather underground. http://www.wunderground.com/cgi-bin/findweather/hdfForecast?query=Bluffton,%20SC&searchType=WEATHER

I find that sight to be very useful for what's going on locally weather wise.

Hi CoreHHI. I use wunderground all the time. There are a lot of personally owned weather stations that contribute to it. I don't have that kind of equipment. Measuring rain is a lot cheaper LOL. Becky

I don't have the patients for measuring rain but it's useful info so go wild. I should say I use to have a just a plastic rain gauge and i would forget about it and it would have 4 inches in it then after a rain storm it would have nothing in, kids didn't know what happened??? Hmmm I wonder.
