lemon daddy hydrangea

Rockford, IL

Does anyone have a lemon daddy hyrdrangea? I'd like to know how it would manage on a shady hill with some morning sun. I want to brighten up this shady area. Under the trees it would be rather dry but I water during the summer. It would be on the crest of a north facing hill. What do you think?

I don't have that particular cultivar, but most hydrangeas would do fine in a morning sun/afternoon shade situation. The only thing that worries me is the dry part--hydrangeas that are planted under trees often need to be watered more often because the tree takes a lot of the moisture. So it really depends on how often you'd be willing to water it--if you can water that area frequently then it should be fine, but if it's one of those areas that's a pain to get the hose to and you want to minimize watering then it's not the best choice.
