looking for fudge frosting recipe

My mom had a special recipe she used for fudge frosting, it hardened like old fashioned fudge on the cake, and it was cooked on the stove...if the weather was too damp it would stay soft... I remember making it with her for every birthday in our house. Well Mom's recipe books got accidentally sold when we dissolved our family estate...

can anyone help me figure out this recipe?
