I live in ontario canada and here its zone 6b.. My mom love the banana cannas i have, she would love to plant them in her campsite.. However shes afraid that since shes right of the water and it gets very windy there they may break.. Does anyone have strong winds around there cannas and if so how do they hold up?? Do the stocks break or any leaf damage?? I have a fence around all my yard so its never an issue for me.. Mine were 8 feet+ with 3 foot leaves they were beautiful and I would hate for hers to break..

Canna's in wind
Last fall before the first frost hit the wind did take out a few of my canna's, snapped them right in half :>( if she can plant them closer to a building to block some wind may help.

Ya thats the problem theres nothing around just a porch thats only about 2.5 feet high..
The banana cannas are very sturdy. Where I live is very windy.
I do not usually have stalks broken on this variety, but I do have some shredding on bigger leaves when young and tender. Into summer they seem to get tougher.
