I don't normally go for neat mounds but when I do I like P.'Tom Thumb', only since all the snow it aint neat anymore. Has anyone pruned this back hard. If so, how did it respond?
Pruning Pittosporum 'Tom thumb'
I'd wait until it shows signs of growth. I lost mine in a winter like yours.
They're still perfectly alive. Just all opened up in the middle so I feel the only way to recover the shape is to hard prune and let them start again.
I guess I'm going to do it anyway ( but waiting until April sounds sensible) so I'll let you know. I think the more vigorous Pittosprums like straight P. tenuifolium can respond well to hard pruning
Thanks
