Pawpaw

Simpsonville, SC(Zone 7b)

I was wondering if anyone has eaten one before and what their thoughts were on them. I am thinking of ordering some frozen in order to find out if i would want some pawpaw trees in the future or not. I didnt know if it would be worth growing or to just eat something else that was similar to it. ( i think dragonfruit is too similar to kiwi, only had one but that was my experience )

If you go for pawpaw check this guy out. http://www.petersonpawpaws.com/

I've thought of growing them but haven't gone through with it yet. I've been totld that in my area they should grow nicely under a tall pines and I need a few under story trees. Don't know if I want something that fruits but on the other hand it's native and would be interesting.

Core, you still want some brugs? I have bunches in the ground that have died back. I'll be digging them up in the next few weeks .. if you pay postage or are heading this way you can have some.

How are yours still alive???? I have a few in the ground which should come back so thanks for the offer but I'm set I think for brugs.

They die back every year and come up the next year .. I also take cuttings in the fall for insurance .. I may need the insurance this year.

I'm wondering that myself. Brugs seem to be giving me a problem, either not enough sun or not enough water. Can't seem to find a good spot. Moving a couple around to see if I can get it right this year. Lots of frost bitten plants this year so we'll see if or what got killed off.

Ideally you want morning sun and afternoon shade .. they are waterhogs.
