What's up with these seeds?

Shreveport, LA

I think I need to ask for a refund!
On the left is Park's Tarten and on the right are my own seeds I collected last year. Both started together. I think my very abused seeds must be fresher- I didn't even clean them until the day I sowed them. Quality seems to have gone down alot when buying seeds. Obviously it's not my seed sowing technique. I started some impatiens from park at the same time and only about three came up. Amazing that I left my seeds uncleaned and uncovered in my dusty garage for many months and they actually germinated better.

freshly collected seeds so seem to work better than anything I bought

Funny how they look like Basil!

We have had such grief with petunia seeds from Park's that we gave up and now buy a tray of them. The impatiens seem to do well for us and the Carefree Mix (coleus) seeds do great.

We have had more than our share of duds from Park's.

I do find coleus seed to be short lived compared to many other types.
