How to stop pdf's from auto opening

I have my downloads set to always ask if I want to save or open, and where to save to. It seems more and more, now, I find when I click on a pdf link, expecting that dialog box to appear, it instead downloads and opens simultaneously. I don't know how I feel about that. It just doesn't seem as secure, or maybe I just like having more control over what I download.

I use FireFox 3.5.7 with W2K. Is there some tweaking I can do to make these "rogue" pdf's comply to my wants?
