erratic pointer

When dragging the selection with the pointer it drops the selection sometimes.
Example Soliaire yu cannot pick up a card or it will drop it. Really get me mad when in Photoshop.
Changed the mouse to serial and another USB port. Tried different ones. Just got a Bamboo tablet and the pen works great but the hand functon is not working right. Run my wilndows Vista repair and no help. Changed the settings and no help. Some one point me in the right direction. Thanks
