I keep getting threatening messages from hotmail

These messages say my account will be closed if I don't give them
name
date of birth
password
country

I am uneasy because the sender is (svgandhi_49@hotmail.com); although everything looks official, this does not! I am choosing to ignore it. Am I doing the right thing?
