What is a good antivirus other than Comodo?

I have been using Comodo-happily for many months now, but on my new Windows764bit desktop I keep getting an alert every few minutes about rundll and hp- I have gone into msconfig and disabled all the hp stuff from startup, but it keeps happening. My other pcs are hp,and they don't do that. I am thinking of replacing Comodo but I am not going to pay for any- I have used AVG in the past- would it be as effective now as Comodo is?
